Bathroom Supplies

Bathroom supplies need all types of storage. Towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, makeup, shaving tools and hair dryers all need a place to go. Sometimes putting all these thing away in drawers or cabinets is the best the solution. But other people need to see their things out and on display. Here are some ideas for displaying your necessities in an effective way.

1. Trays-Mirrored, Lucite, Silver or Porcelain, trays are great for setting perfume, nail polish, make up or brushes.

2. Glass Jars-I love storing cotton balls and Q-Tips in glass jars. You can also store sponges, soap and hair ties in glass jars.

3. Baskets-Baskets are great when you want to store things on your shelves or counter top without seeing the contents inside. They also add a natural and spa like feeling to the bathroom.

4. Bowls and Boxes-Keeping your watches, jewelry or makeup in boxes or ceramic bowls is another option. They keep things together and organized while still within reach. Here are some images that use all these storage ideas.

Book Worm

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love books in a home. I think they are captivating and inject warmth into any space. I love going into homes and looking at what people read. It tells so much about a person. I usually find instant conversation when I see that someone has read the same books as me. Even though I don't read as many books as I would like to, I have books in almost every room of my house. Whether your space is modern or traditional books look great in any style!

Bright Ideas

Marjorie Skouras Design has a lighting and furniture line that has been featured in lots of media outlets lately. Beaded chandeliers in bright fun colors are the signature of the company but they have some awesome hardware and mirrors. I love how this example below is a very sophisticated room but with the chandelier the room becomes fun and relaxed.

Modern Rustic Family Home

Here is a house built in 2010 that combines rustic European charm with modern clean lines. It's listed for $5.5 million and offers 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. First off I love the exterior of this house. The wavy long grass and vintage looking garage door instantly make the house approachable. The beams and flooring in the kitchen/family room provide a warmth and livability to the space. How amazing are the panels separating the master bathroom form the bedroom??! For more info on this house go here.

Happy Halloween

The first thing I think of on Halloween is this...

So in celebration of the holiday I found some great interiors that use black as the defining color in the rooms. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, mystery and on the dark side, evil and death. I love using a touch of black in any room. It adds depth and sophistication to a room. I think these rooms below use black perfectly!

Man's BFF

There are so many choices for stylish pet furniture these days. I think its something gets overlooked when pet owners buy beds without considering their decor. Pet beds come in a variety of fabrics and styles why not make a deliberate choice to use one that looks good with your furniture? I love how people are custom building places for their pets into the structure of their homes. The pet bed in the kitchen island is a great idea or the dog house under the stairs uses otherwise wasted space. Whether you budget is limited or not there are options at many price points!
