Fireplaces are great focal point of a room. Depending on the look you are going for the fireplace design can be dramatic or streamlined. However to day design aesthetic has moved toward clean lines. Here are a few examples of fireplaces that make a statement without overdoing it.

5 Classic Chairs
Here are some examples of the chairs frequently used in any home.
1. The Club Chair. This type of chair is usually found in a family room. Big and comfortable are mandatory traits of this chair.
2. The Occasional Chair. As its name suggests this chair is one to sit in occasionally. These chairs should be decorative and interesting.
3. The Slipper Chair. I use this type of chair in smaller formal living rooms or in large walk-in closets. This chair is meant to look simple yet attractive.
4. The Wing Back Chair. This is the classic library chair although the one shown is a modern version of the chair. Great for the home office space.
5. The Tub Chair. These chairs can be used at the foot of the bed in a large master suite or in a living room or family room. The curved back makes them very comfortable.

Thoughts on Wallpaper
Installing wallpaper can add so much to a room. I love using it in powder rooms, bedrooms, even dining rooms. Its great to use when you don't have a lot of artwork because the wallpaper becomes the art. Even if a you don't like a lot of pattern there are plenty of wallpapers that just add texture.
These are a few examples available through the trade.
This wallpaper has little beads on the flowers and stems
This would be amazing in a powder room
Damask
Fleur de lis pattern with an antique mirror background
Vertical Stripes
Soft Floral

Match.com
As I was looking through the local real estate listings I saw this beauty in Shady Canyon. I matched a master bedroom design concept for this gorgeous home.
It's listed for $3,988,800.00. Click here if you're interested.

This little gem of a property is screaming for this bedroom. I put together an iron bed with nice chunky chest so the bedroom doesn't come off as too feminine. The soft color combination of peach and cream is soothing and calm. A big comfortable chair and ottoman for reading or relaxing. The rug is wool for durability and silk for that shine and elegance. All bedrooms should have a luxury candle!

Best in Chest
I love using chests as nightstands or at the end of hallway or in an entry. They can provide extra storage if needed. Chests tend to be a little more decorative and interesting than a standard nightstand. Here are a few I admire.

Sublime Office Design
Whenever I see great a furniture piece I instantly design a whole room around it in my head. Here is a design concept for a home office. This one started with the side table, then came the rug, the mirror and the desk. Finally, the swivel chair, lamp, and pillow. Clearly, this office would be occupied by a laptop and wireless connections!!

Waterjet Tile Designs
Whenever I design a bathroom or kitchen one of my first choices in tile selection is waterjet cut tiles. The possibilities are endless for the design and the stones. The color combination can be dramatic or simple. You can outline the tile pattern by simply selecting a contrasting grout. Here are a few examples.
Laundry Room Love
Most houses do not have laundry rooms as glorious as these. What difference a beautiful room can do for such a laborious chore. Seriously, you could entertain in these laundry rooms! I love the island in the center of the room.

Rock Box
I love shopping online. It's so addictive! You can do it in your sweats at all hours of the day or night. The good news is that writing this blog has given me new purpose for looking at the endless supply of amazing products the world has to offer. This awesome little box is the perfect accessory for a nightstand.
Unique Pendants
My electricity was out yesterday from 8:30AM to 1:30AM. Such a nightmare!!! Ironically, I was in the middle of writing this post about pendant lights. Ha!
I have been looking for some pendant lights and stumbled upon these...
This pendant is really where art and function collide.
I get a sort of nautical feel from this one.
This is called "Biomorphic Bubble". I like this one for a nursery or play room.

Dining Alfresco
The weather has been so nice here that I was inspired to put
together an outdoor dining concept. Earthy, beachy and casual...perfect for
southern California !

Transitional House in CdM
I came across this listing for a new custom home in Corona
del Mar. This was built by Spinnaker Development and is for sale for
$4,149,000.00. I think they did a great job with the materials and the
furniture. I love when a house's exterior matches the interior! The dining room and living room look so elegant but without feeling formal.
The epitome of transitional design.

Quartz Countertops
I recently remodeled two bathrooms using Quartz countertops.
I think this material is the most amazing product! I love that you can use all
the products in your bathroom like nail polish remover, makeup, shaving cream,
toothpaste, mouth wash etc. etc. without worrying one bit about damaging your
countertop. It's so clean and modern yet you can use it in a traditional
setting as well. Here are two examples:
