Lighting by Jonathan Adler

While watching a movie called Columbus Circle on Netflix this Christmas I noticed that some lamps and accessories in Selma Blair's apartment were Jonathan Adler's designs. While I am not generally a huge fan of his 60's mod look, he does make some beautiful lighting!! Here are some examples of his interiors that are nice and some of my favorite light fixtures.

Bright Ideas

Marjorie Skouras Design has a lighting and furniture line that has been featured in lots of media outlets lately. Beaded chandeliers in bright fun colors are the signature of the company but they have some awesome hardware and mirrors. I love how this example below is a very sophisticated room but with the chandelier the room becomes fun and relaxed.

Inside Out

I have seen so many more light fixtures lately with the lights on the inside of the fixture and the decorations on the outside. I really like this design. Especially since the nicest light is indirect light. Who wants to look at the glare from a light bulb? Sure, you can still see the light bulbs in some of these designs but it's not the first thing you see.

Royal Flush

Flush mount lighting fixtures have come a long way. Who hasn't seen these light fixtures? Boring, typical and ugly.

The new flush mount fixtures offer a range of styles and finishes. I just love these designs!! These are great for hallways, walk-in closets, bedroom or smaller entry ways.

A fantastic resource for building or remodeling a home or retail space is Urban Archaeology. The Beauty of Simplicity: Minimalism

Hello. I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a terrific online source for light fixtures of every style. I love my work. I get to write guest posts for blogs such as AH Designs, to share with readers like you. You can find me at all hours of the day and night searching the web for the most beautiful interior design ideas and images.

Often viewed as stark and cold, minimalist spaces tend to get a bad rap. However, these decors can be simplistic without sacrificing comfort and warmth. Decorating simply can be a feat as it takes just the right balance between design elements such as color, texture, pattern and light. To illustrate, I’ve gathered some of my favorite minimalist spaces below. Thanks for letting me share today!

While not all minimalist spaces are predominately white, it tends to be the most pristine and crisp canvas for a simplistic setting.

This minimalist loft gets a few pops of color from furnishings. In differing shades of pink, they immediately draw the eye through the space.

Following the simplistic credo—less is more—this large loft, with tall ceilings and painted wood floors, is fitted with the barest of furnishings and accessories. Eclectic lighting fixtures seem to pop against all white on the floor, walls, ceiling.

The simplest of decors, this studio space boasts minimal furnishings. Its clean lines offer a stylish yet peaceful environment.

A monochromatic palette gives this minimalist living area a warm and inviting feeling despite its bare appearance.

A minimalist bathroom gets a boost of color and texture with mint green tile around the tub and carried up the walls.

A modern black and white office gets a burst of color from a fun pink desk which adds personality to the space. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
