Home Office

Home offices have become a necessity for most people whether they work from home full time or not. We all need a place to pay the bills, keep records, surf the web and stay organized. I like to keep the home office looking comfortable and homey rather than corporate or industrial. Sometimes a typical office chair is in order but I generally prefer accent chairs. Here are a few examples....

Nautical by Nature

I have lived in Southern California my whole life and as a result I have a soft spot for nautical novelties. I know! It's not exactly the epitome of sophisticated interior design but it can be done in an elegant way. It can also be be done just for the fun of it! Here are some examples of both...

Elegant Desks

It's great to have a place to keep things organized. I am a creature of habit and like to put things in the same place so I never forget where they are. Envelopes, car keys, Advil, I know exactly which drawer they are in! Now that we are in the age of smart phones, tablets, laptops and wifi it seems like the need for desk is becoming obsolete. I still believe that everyone should have a proper place to sit and work. Whether that is to pay the bills, surf the web, or write out your Christmas cards. Here are some examples of desks worthy of any living room...

Backyard Business

I saw these sheds featured in the LA Times a few weeks ago and thought they so cool. They are customizable modular dwellings that are perfect for a home office, guest room, kids play area, man cave, mother-in-law suite, etc., etc. They're affordable and super stylish! See for yourself.......

Rooms without Color

There is a color palette out there for everyone. Some people are drawn to vibrant saturated colors whiles others are drawn to subdued earth tones. However, black and white can be a great way to express yourself without committing to any color.

Black and white rooms come across to as modern, glamorous and sexy. Case in point, these rooms...

5 Classic Chairs

Here are some examples of the chairs frequently used in any home.

1. The Club Chair. This type of chair is usually found in a family room. Big and comfortable are mandatory traits of this chair.

2. The Occasional Chair. As its name suggests this chair is one to sit in occasionally. These chairs should be decorative and interesting.

3. The Slipper Chair. I use this type of chair in smaller formal living rooms or in large walk-in closets. This chair is meant to look simple yet attractive.

4. The Wing Back Chair. This is the classic library chair although the one shown is a modern version of the chair. Great for the home office space.

5. The Tub Chair. These chairs can be used at the foot of the bed in a large master suite or in a living room or family room. The curved back makes them very comfortable.
